Indeed! Never noticed that the contributing page was outdated. Not only missing
GitHub specific docs, but also not mentioning that git is also used by some
projects ([math], [text], and [rdf] look to be already using git). If no one
else is working on this issue, I can try producing some draft documentation for
this issue.
