Gary Lucas updated IMAGING-182:
-------------------------------
    Attachment: Imaging_182_Patch_2016_04_14.patch

Here's a patch that adds the new feature. Unfortunately, it overlaps with some
changes I submitted in a patch back in September for tracker item #170. Note
sure how to resolve this, but I'll work with folks as necessary. And, just in
case a release statement is required, here it is: I hereby release the patch
that I contributed, Imaging_182_Patch_2016_04_14.patch, for use by the Apache
Software Foundation and all interested parties according to the conditions
specified in the Apache License, Version 2.0 described at

> The current implementation does not permit to storage of grayscale images
> when writing a TIFF output. Grayscales come in handy for converting
> satellite image products to GeoTIFFs for display in GIS applications. The
> current implementation can read grayscale formats but cannot writing them.
