Kotlin introduced the concept of Extension functions which are more concise
than regular functions and allow easy discoverability.
There was a proposal earlier https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LANG-1538 in
which it was suggested to create a different project all together.
Opening this issue to discuss if we want to create this package and what would
it take to get this through.
