Hey Ian, thanks for getting on this.
I am using a Tecno Phantom Tab running Android 4.2.1. I get the alert with that
file path, which is legit. However the call always goes into an error state no
matter what format of file path I specify.
Tecno is one of the many Android devices popular in West and East Africa so I
have to take them into consideration. You can find some tech specs here:

It's pretty late here so I will have to try out your first suggestion when I'm
up this morning. I will then report back.
