Hi seth, no guide yet since everything is in flux.
If you followed https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CB-7539 you can see that
Apple has "fixed" the file:// url loading bug, and that is what we are waiting
for. It won't be in iOS 8.1, but hopefully 8.2. In the meantime, I'm still not
sure if we should use and spend resources supporting the local web server
option with this bug being fixed (soon).
The local web server option is already supported in the current codebase. You
will need a plugin that loads a web server with the onload attribute set to
true, and set the content tag in config.xml to your local web server home page
and port. The only disadvantages are:
1. Port number collision
2. Other apps can access the local web server
(these 2 items are what https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CB-7539 is trying
to fix)
