If you think the menu button is a bad idea, you should take that up with
smartphone manufacturers. But it's terrible advice to say that app developers
should simply ignore it. Users expect the buttons on their phones to, you know,
work.
To wit, every application I just tried on my phone (including Gmail, Facebook,
Chrome, Google Docs, etc.) responded appropriately to the menu button. If we
follow your advice the only effect will be to cripple Cordova apps by
comparison with their native peers.
