------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Jun 8 12:37:40 +0000 2007 ------- I can help with this, I wanted to get more into that mirroring stuff nontheless. But it may take some time, so if you don't need it by tomorrow, you can count on me. Maybe some issues have been discussed already, but we should think about how to do the download stuff in the future. The bouncer is a great idea, and most mirrors (even extended mirrors) support HTTP nowadays. We shouldn't have download pages for each and every project, like the new Mac port and every NLC project - but rather use a centralized download site, with one mirror database that also contains links to special downloads, like the Germanophone ISO, the Portable edition, Mac OS X snapshots and so on. Otherwise, it gets more and more complicated. I can only speak of the DE project, but we have: - our own ooodev rsync for PrOOo-Box (page 1), OOoPortable (page 2) - the normal rsync for the releases (page 3) - special links for language packs and RCs (page 4) So, only the DE project has to link to at least for different sites, with four different mirror databases. New extended mirrors are in the queue, so we shouldn't have download trouble in the future - we just need to organize the mirroring. Maybe I should sum up my thoughs on [EMAIL PROTECTED] Or is there a better list? --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
