The conversion of error message to exception seems a workaround so I discussed
with [~seanhychu] about future work in terms of looking into this as part of
the test framework improvements in collaboration with [~jaltekruse].
Since other review comments have been resolved and the rest of the changes in
this updated patch look good to me, I am +1 on it and will commit to master
branch.
