create 'fewtypes_null', 'types'
put 'fewtypes_null', 1, 'types:int_col', 1

Now from Drill :

select * from fewtypes_null;

The below query fails :

select convert_from(a.types.int_col, 'INT') from fewtypes_null a;
Query failed: RemoteRpcException: Failure while running fragment., Wrong length
1(1-0) in the buffer '1', expected 4. [ f9a3bb31-bb19-428c-8c7d-99e1898e66e7 on
qa-node114.qa.lab:31010 ]
