Currently we don't support joining (implicitly) a varchar with a numeric type.
Main reason being we don't know which way to cast and most db's (like postgres)
require you to have an explicit cast in this situation. If we think Drill
should allow such casts we can add comparator functions for varchar and numeric
types. However to me the underlying problem seems to be what you pointed out
which is why is employee_id varchar in one case and bigint in another.
