Petri Tuomola commented on FINERACT-874:
----------------------------------------

[~vorburger] [~xurror] - this script and files seem to be also used in support
of the gradle task "dist" that I started looking at (as it uses some deprecated
Gradle properties)

So in total the release script, the files listed under /src/main/dist, and the
dist task seem to be used to create a zip file "fineract-platform-version.zip"
- with all the source codes, instructions on how to build it and a script to
run the resulting jar.

Do we use /release this zip distribution? If yes, the documentation and scripts
should be updated to reflect the Spring Boot, removal of community app etc.

But at least these (out-of-day) wiki sites
[https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/FINERACT/Installing+Fineract-platform]
 refer to the zip file..

If we don't use it, then I'd suggest removing the files, scripts, wiki pages
and Gradle task to reduce the different ways of building / launching /
distributing Fineract.

> Fineract release.sh script's role?

> As I created the parent task, and [glanced at the release Wiki
> page|https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=67640333],
> I've noticed https://github.com/apache/fineract/blob/develop/release.sh, but
> am not clear what purpose it serves.
> It refers to an {{apps/community-app}} directory, which does not exist in
> Apache Fineract.
> Should (can) that script simply be deleted, to avoid future confusion?
> [~nazeer1100126] or [~vishwasbabu] or [~myrle] would you know anything about
> this, or know somehow who may know?
