To handle IP rate limiting and DDoS protection, it's important that production deployments utilize cloud environments. This is because the app is consumer facing, meaning DDoS attacks can be frequent and dangerous. The best way to prevent these issues is by deploying to the cloud, which has tooling that detects and mitigates these issues.
