   @Aitozi the problem with the code is that (at least in that version of 
Flink) the thread could still become interrupted as part of an ongoing 
cancellation while waiting for the timer service to finish. It will then 
immediately unblock with `InterruptedException` and the bad things can still 
happen. The code needs to complete the shutdown even in the face of 
interruption or else you can still segault from time to time.
