   Yes, that is about all the documentation I could find about it. I was also 
convinced that I have seen somewhere that the block cache should be part of it, 
but looks like I was wrong. Looking at the implementation it looks more like 
defining ways how I/O is done. I guess that can include bypassing file system 
caches.
   
   Seems like the block cache can also be shared, but in a different way, see 
https://github.com/facebook/rocksdb/wiki/Block-Cache
