I've started a couple PR, https://github.com/apache/flink/pull/7012 for
FLINK-10769 and https://github.com/apache/flink/pull/7011 for FLINK-10768.
Would be great to have you look at them and ensure it's a good start that
conforms to our discussion conclusion.
