I don't think this will happen anytime soon, see mostly
https://github.com/scala/scala/releases/tag/v2.13.0 and
https://contributors.scala-lang.org/t/proposal-to-deprecate-and-remove-symbol-literals/2953
which are somewhat bigger issues for our Scala API. Especially because the
former removes {{CanBuildFrom}} which our Scala collection serializers use.
