carp84 opened a new pull request #9516: [FLINK-13815][State Backends] Implement the SpaceAllocator URL: https://github.com/apache/flink/pull/9516 ## What is the purpose of the change Adding allocators for off-heap byte buffer allocation, which is required by storing state on disk. ## Brief change log Mainly introduces two types of buffer allocators: `DirectBucketAllocator` and `PowerTwoBucketAllocator`. The former is for relatively big data, and the latter is a simple buddy-like allocator for small data. Also assures java 9+ compatibility referring to Hadoop's [CleanerUtil](https://github.com/apache/hadoop/blob/trunk/hadoop-common-project/hadoop-common/src/main/java/org/apache/hadoop/util/CleanerUtil.java). ## Verifying this change This change added tests under `org.apache.flink.runtime.state.heap.space` package. ## Does this pull request potentially affect one of the following parts: - Dependencies (does it add or upgrade a dependency): (no) - The public API, i.e., is any changed class annotated with `@Public(Evolving)`: (no) - The serializers: (no) - The runtime per-record code paths (performance sensitive): (no) - Anything that affects deployment or recovery: JobManager (and its components), Checkpointing, Yarn/Mesos, ZooKeeper: (no) - The S3 file system connector: (no) ## Documentation - Does this pull request introduce a new feature? (no) - If yes, how is the feature documented? (docs) - Added a design doc for `PowerTwoBucketAllocator`
