ifndef-SleePy opened a new pull request #9885: [FLINK-14344][checkpointing] Snapshots master hook state asynchronously URL: https://github.com/apache/flink/pull/9885 ## What is the purpose of the change * This is based on https://github.com/apache/flink/pull/9853 * This is a preparation for reworking threading model of `CheckpointCoordinator` * Changes the `MasterHooks` and `PendingCheckpoint` to support snapshotting master hooks asynchronously * Note that it's still synchronously invoked in `CheckpointCoordinator` for now. In the next PR, the `CheckpointCoordinator#triggerCheckpoint` would be separated into asynchronous stages. At that time, the master state could be invoked asynchronously. ## Brief change log * `PendingCheckpoint` supports acknowledging master state just like task state. * Indicates that `MasterTriggerRestoreHook#triggerCheckpoint` should be non-blocking * Changes the util class `MasterHooks` to satisfy asynchronous invocation ## Verifying this change * Most scenarios of this change are already covered by existing tests * This change also adds some unit test cases ## Does this pull request potentially affect one of the following parts: - Dependencies (does it add or upgrade a dependency): no - The public API, i.e., is any changed class annotated with `@Public(Evolving)`: no - The serializers: no - The runtime per-record code paths (performance sensitive): no - Anything that affects deployment or recovery: JobManager (and its components), Checkpointing, Yarn/Mesos, ZooKeeper: no - The S3 file system connector: no ## Documentation - Does this pull request introduce a new feature? no - If yes, how is the feature documented? not applicable
