After discussion on the mailing list, I updated the [Flink release
guide|https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/FLINK/Creating+a+Flink+Release],
and once [#5|https://github.com/apache/flink-docker/pull/5] has been merged I
think we can close this issue.
There's still room for improvement here, for example adding more automation to
the workflow and somehow making release candidate images available during the
release process, but we can tackle that in a follow-up issue.
