[~nielsbasjes] Thanks a lot for sharing your feedback and creating this ticket. 
I really apologize for the inconvenience. Currently, the native kubernetes is 
still a beta feature. So the document is not very thorough. 

I second [~azagrebin]'s idea. If the users is deploying Flink with other 
container environment, he/she will come across the similar problem. Since 
unifying the docker image and building custom image are in plan. Then native 
kubernetes should not be specific. Another ticket FLINK-15796 also aim to add 
some document on building custom image.
