Review comment:
To me, this is more of a snapshot: we fill it **once** we receive a barrier
and then we don't update it until the next barrier (even if we **do** receive
buffers).
This is in contrast to input side, were we actually collect data currently
in-flight.
So I'd name it `snapshot` or `buffersSnapshot`.
