There are still some questions open, please see the comments above.
Besides that, can you please list some IT cases covering checkpoint
cancelation in the description?
I'm a bit concerned about the following scenarios:
1. a barrier arrives for an already canceled checkpoint; alignment still
happens as usual but the result is discarded, right?
2. recently, upstream tasks started to block in aligned mode (#11351). With
this change, they still will be unblocked by the downstream despite of
cancelation via RPC, right?
