I verified that these regression are caused by upgrading the Avro version. If I
simply downgrade the Avro version used in benchmarks back to 1.8.2, we're back
to the old values. See results (attached) [^jmh-result.csv]. I added a note to
the Release notes of FLINK-18192 with that observation and a possibility to
downgrade Avro in user's job.
I will close the ticket as I don't think there is anything in particular that
we can do here.
