aljoscha opened a new pull request #13891:
URL: https://github.com/apache/flink/pull/13891

   ## What is the purpose of the change

Adds a sanity check to ensure that BATCH execution on the DataStream API
actually behaves the way we expect. We ensure that jobs can be executed in
stages and that a failure doesn't cause the whole job to be restarted but only
the stages that need to be restarted.

**Note to reviewers: The second test actually doesn't work because the job
cannot be executed on just 1 slot. Is this something we should support?**

   ## Verifying this change

   Run the new test.
