Thanks for your detailed response @curcur and the explanation of your reasoning. I agree that isolating changes is a very good argument for introducing a separate implementation. Concerning your thought whether all result partition types should be explicitly managed by the JM I think it is interesting to think it through. It would definitely help to get rid of some special cases.
