[~Partha Mishra], you can download the {{_metadata}} to local and use
{{DataInputStream}} to open the {{_metadata}} file. In general you could use
{{Checkpoints#loadCheckpointMetadata(inputStream,
Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader(), null)}} to open the checkpoint
meta, if you're not familiar with meta structure, you could load this meta data
in IDEA with debug mode, and click to see what's the real state of operator
fbb4ef531e002f8fb3a2052db255adf5. If you still feel not clear about this,
please share the _metadata generated by Flink-1.9 and Flink-1.11.2 so that we
could have a look.
Last but not least, I think calling java API within scala is very easy.
