XComp opened a new pull request, #22601:
URL: https://github.com/apache/flink/pull/22601

   ## What is the purpose of the change

   The `contenderID` is something that shall be hidden from the contender by
providing the `LeaderElection` abstraction. The contender ID shall be specified
in the `HighAvailabilityServices` and defines the location of the
`LeaderInformation` within the HA backend (i.e. ZK or k8s).

   ## Brief change log

   * Adds `contenderID` as a parameter to
`LeaderElectionService.createLeaderElection`
   * Updates the `AbstractLeaderElectionService` to rely on the `contenderID`
for the lifecycle of the contender within the `LeaderElectionService`

   ## Verifying this change

   * Existing tests should work as usual
