We really should prioritize getting this into Flink 2.0 earlier for testing. We
purposefully kept the merge out of 1.x to wait for 2.x availability. Now that
we have a 2.x preview release, this should be merged in, right? Also we still
need to add 2.0-related tag to this ticket.
