Added a commit to fix spotless formatting violations — the new parent's
upgraded spotless (2.43.0 with google-java-format 1.24.0) requires a blank line
before Javadoc comments. Pre-existing issue in 3 files, not caught locally
because spotless is
disabled on JDK 21 (CI runs JDK 11).
