Backport of https://github.com/apache/flink/pull/29324 (5c56320f1ce). #28687 (FLINK-40099) and #28694 are not on this branch and need no backport of their own: #28694 undid #28687, and #29324 replaced the poll that #28694 added. What is left of them is the per-file check, which this commit brings along. release-2.3 has log4j 2.25.3, so container logs roll on startup here too (FLINK-40833). `verifyStringsInNamedLogFiles` now also reads `<file>.<n>`. The only conflict was the old combined assertion; `YARNSessionFIFOSecuredITCase` now matches master. Last occurrence on this branch was on 2026-09-27 in Java 11 misc, one of 5 failures in 88 GitHub Actions misc runs between 2026-09-14 and 2026-09-28: https://github.com/apache/flink/actions/runs/36287526040/job/108535567351 Verified locally in a Linux container on JDK 17. With the startup rollover forced, the test fails on the base commit with the CI error, passes with this change, and fails again with the old file name check.
