raminqaf opened a new pull request, #29616:
URL: https://github.com/apache/flink/pull/29616
## What is the purpose of the change
Backport of #29579 to release-2.4. FLINK-40996 (#29483) is already on
release-2.4. It made `PARSE_JSON` and `TRY_PARSE_JSON` share one generated
parse, and that parse builds the `PARSE_JSON` error on every failure. So
without this commit, every row `TRY_PARSE_JSON` rejects in 2.4 pays for a UTF-8
scan, a copy of the input and a `TableRuntimeException`, then drops them. 2.3
returned NULL right after the parser failed. Results do not change.
