## What is the purpose of the change Allow type inference to distinguish DEFAULT placeholders from explicit NULL values, while preserving the existing `isArgumentNull()` semantics. Addresses [FLINK-41278](https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FLINK-41278). ## Brief change log - Add `CallContext.isArgumentDefault(int)` with a default implementation returning false. - Recognize DEFAULT placeholders in SQL and Table API call contexts and forward the information through context wrappers. ## Verifying this change Added tests in `FunctionITCase` covering omitted optional arguments and explicit NULL values through both SQL and Table API type inference. Validation passed: - Type inference tests: 387 cases. - Selected `FunctionITCase` methods, `MiscFunctionsITCase`, and `ExpressionReductionRulesTest`: 74 cases. - Spotless and Checkstyle. ## Does this pull request potentially affect one of the following parts: - Dependencies: no. - Public API: yes, adds a default method to `@PublicEvolving CallContext`. - Serializers: no. - Runtime per-record code paths: no. - Deployment or recovery: no. - S3 file system connector: no. ## Documentation - Does this pull request introduce a new feature? Yes. - If yes, how is the feature documented? JavaDocs. --- ##### Was generative AI tooling used to co-author this PR? - [x] Yes Generated-by: Codex 0.165.0-alpha.1.2 (gpt-6.1-sol) -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
