Issue Type: ENHANCEMENT
Summary: Flash drive install removes PC installation
Classification: Code
Product: framework
Version: OOo 3.0
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Windows XP
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Priority: P3
Component: code
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]
QAContact: [email protected]
I needed to send my boy to school with a presentation that did not work when
saved as .ppt (because a .flv movie was included). As no viewer available,
forum suggested install Impress on flash drive along with .odp etc. Result for
flash drive was perfect if VERY slow, but removed OO installation from PC!
* Suggest partial flash drive (secondary) install as option (leaving main
install intact). Might also work on a CD or any removable media?
Didn't care too much as needed to upgrade PC from 3.2 to 3.3 anyway, but then
found new install failed because flash drive no longer present. My work around
was to remove all D: and OpenOffice entries from registry by hand. 100s of
them!
* Would be much better if install did not fail when old install drive is no
longer present.
* Would also be good if flash drive install did not invoke the registration
pages when presented to the new PC.
Of course the whole issue could be avoided if a complete executable product
could be zipped into the document with its associated files, but that is for
another wish list and would probably take a lot of coding and constant update
with new releases.
