Issue Type: DEFECT
Summary: Updating template file type corrupts template data
base
Classification: Code
Product: framework
Version: OOO330m20
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Windows XP
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P3
Component: ui
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]
QAContact: [email protected]
This is a bug nagging me since several OOo versions, observed (so far) in
Writer and Calc: I have set template paths to three different directories
containing dozens of templates of different age. Several workplaces share two
of these template directories.
If I edit an older template, say, Reisekosten.stc, on saving I get prompted
to save it in the current file type as Reisekosten.ods . If I do so (and keep
or manually delete the old .stc), the template data base is corrupted: On any
subsequent "File / New / From Template" OO complains that it cannot find
Reisekosten.stc and it does not find the new template. If I change the
document title and file name of the new template, the new one is then found
but the old one still remains in the template list and is still complained
about. All OOo intallations using these directories then show this error.
I can't find a way to get OO to recognize this change. Template / Manage /
Update doesn't help (by the way, a 'Delete' option is missing there!). Even
manually editing Hierarchy.xcu (still containing the old file name) doesn't
change its mind; I'm at a loss where this is stored. I am forced to restore
the old template from backup and keep it around!
