Barrett Oglesby commented on GEODE-7763: ---------------------------------------- With this use case, every ServerConnection thread one the server is serially executed. This behavior is the same in both master and 2.2.2.RELEASE. Here is the general pattern (from 2.2.2.RELEASE but master has the same pattern): There are 180 ServerConnection threads on the server handling the 180 client Session Threads. 175 are waiting for a bucket lock here: {noformat} "ServerConnection on port 65012 Thread 185" #248 daemon prio=5 os_prio=31 tid=0x00007fe79d2cd800 nid=0x29c07 in Object.wait() [0x000070001a8c4000] java.lang.Thread.State: TIMED_WAITING (on object monitor) at java.lang.Object.wait(Native Method) at org.apache.geode.internal.cache.BucketRegion.waitUntilLocked(BucketRegion.java:490) - All the ServerConnection threads wait their turn for the bucket lock. The changes for GEODE-6152 exacerbated this behavior. Now, every client get operation on a proxy region goes to the server. In previous versions, with multiple simultaneous client gets on the same key only one thread went to the server. The others waited in the client. So, the server in master is serializing the DeltaCapableGemFireSession more often. Below are the DeltaCapableGemFireSession serializations in both versions during this test. {noformat} Message.addPartInAnyForm is part of the get operation. CacheClientNotifier.initializeMessage is part of the put operation (creating the message to add to the client queue).
