Peter T created GUACAMOLE-1442:
----------------------------------
Summary: Data Use high on RDP Audio
Key: GUACAMOLE-1442
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/GUACAMOLE-1442
Project: Guacamole
Issue Type: Improvement
Components: guacamole
Affects Versions: 1.3.0
Reporter: Peter T
Attachments: image-2021-10-11-17-59-43-707.png
When playing / recording audio (connection to server is RDP) the bandwidth
requirement is too high for our users. Could audio be compressed or configured
to lower quality for clients (I'm using latest docker containers and connection
is via websocket)?
Also, when recording finishes, audio use still remains high until the
connection is broken (eg by refreshing browser screen).
In image below:
End user's PC needs around 1.2Mb/s for playback (blue), then very little once
playback is complete (green).
When using microphone (Red) it uses 1.3Mb/s (upload), then continues to use
600Kb/s even though recording has stopped (orange )
If you refresh web-browser (so re-set connection), data use returns to almost
nothing (green at the end).
In comparison, direct RDP to this windows server using mstsc uses 288Kb/s for
each channel.
