I'm going to be stubborn and try to write a test for this even though you +1ed 
:) Hopefully will do so this week.
These issues are so rare to reproduce "in the wild" that I think it's 
especially important to have targeted tests.
Otherwise it's quite likely we'll regress them down the road.
