stack commented on HBASE-9153:
------------------------------

I need to set the commit bit on the scripts on commit.

I ran w/ no arguments and got all of the shell -x output. You want to run w/
debug on by default?

The message I got when I ran the tool was 'We did not receive 4 arguments.
Instead received 0. Please check your command and try again.'

Should it also print out 'usage' and usage will say what the 4 args are? (And
mention the nice doc that is at the head of the scripts)

Otherwise, seems to basically work (didn't let it run to completion because
have bad connection at mo).

> We've had a few issues now where we've removed API's without deprecating or
> deprecating in the late release. (HBASE-9142, HBASE-9093) We should just
> have a tool that enforces our api deprecation policy as a release time check
> or as a precommit check.
