Please leave these public as mapred is deprecated but still heavily used. For
instance, I have hopes to wire in support for hadoop-streaming clients, all of
which goes through mapred AFAIK.

The REST gateway implementation is not intended for public interaction, but it
would be nice to keep the package documentation public so users can see how
things are parsed. I'm not sure how you do that with your fancy new javadoc
stuffs.
