Hmm. That is same as hbase-9024 which would say that the same issue exists in
current hadoop-2.1.x so we can just commit this.
I thought I'd seen something else. Was elusive and besides, I think that it
really just the above issue. What I saw was that the assert log message was
causing issue (trying to get the replica count -- 2.2 was coming back that the
stream was closed which made sense but seemed like a changed behavior..) but
nvm.... lets figure the above issue over in HBASE-9024.
