Hive only speaks mapred? That'd be a strong reason to add it.
And from an external viewpoint it'd be weird if there is a feature gap
(completely agree with that).
If 0.96.2 was indeed the last 0.96 release, we can always delay until after
that was released. (so maybe 0.94.19).
Maybe the best approach is to document the possibility and for 0.94 point the
documentation to this jira, where then folks can down the standalone version
(which works just fine without any HBase changes).
Now it has become a big discussion :) And anything related to 0.96 is Stacks
decision. Maybe I jumped the gun again.
