[~jeffreyz], can we handle the pending_open/close issue in a separate jira? I
will add some tests to cover it. Other issues are simple to fix. I can do it at
commit.
[~enis], how is HBASE-10070 rebase? Can I get this patch in before it?
Otherwise, I have to run all tests again.
