I am planning to produce a patch to forward port :
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HBASE-8576 to master. It adds a lot of
flexibility to do configuration changes dynamically. [~gaurav.menghani] has
done some analysis on the types of configs we have in 89-fb and found that it
makes sense to update some configs in an online fashion like compaction
configurations etc. In case anyone is interested in the patch please refer to :
HBASE-12147.
