Jingcheng Du commented on HBASE-11861:
--------------------------------------
Got it, thanks Jon [~jmhsieh].
Since in hbase minor compaction, there're cells deleted, we need to customize
the minor compaction for the mob column that we should keep all the deleted
cells and only merge small hfiles to bigger one in the minor compaction. And
the cells will be deleted in the major compaction when we create the del files.
Does it sound ok?

> Currently, the first cut of mob will have external processes to age off old
> mob data (the ttl cleaner), and to compact away deleted or over written data
> (the sweep tool).
> From an operational point of view, having two external tools, especially one
> that relies on MapReduce is undesirable. In this issue we'll tackle
> integrating these into hbase without requiring external processes.
