Andrew Purtell commented on HBASE-13100:
----------------------------------------
bq. My understanding of the 0.98 train is that since it's pre-1.0 each release
is roughly equivalent to a minor release under semver.
That's about right but the guarantees are even weaker. We are guaranteeing only
wire compatibility between minor releases (of course we should avoid binary
compat breaks wherever possible, but that has been our messaging), and
everything based on HFileV3 is explicitly experimental, hence "evolving".

> Add a shell command that returns the splits for a table.
> Doing this yourself is currently possible, but involves going outside of the
> public api.
> {code}

> "40"]
> 0 row(s) in 0.5500 seconds
> => Hbase::Table - example_table
> jruby-1.7.3 :013 >
> get_table('example_table').table.get_all_region_locations.map do |location|
> org.apache.hadoop.hbase.util.Bytes::toStringBinary(location.get_region_info.get_start_key)
