Here's a patch for 0.98 based on the v2 patch for trunk. New unit tests
TestHashTable and TestSyncTable pass for me locally. The added methods to
CellComparator and CellUtil on 0.98 don't present a compatibility problem on
the branch. Going to try this out on real clusters tomorrow.
