[~ndimiduk] I understand that there is a hope for a more generic,
cross-everything fix in HBASE-8074, but it's been quite some time since this
was mentioned and I don't necessarily see progress toward that end goal. Is
progress being made there such that this issue will no longer be necessary, or
is it possible to request that we merge this for now and then when HBASE-8074
gets some love it adjusts things accordingly?
