bq.is there a reason why some are not all sleeps weren't converted to wait for
tune's?
Some of the sleeps don't expect anything to change between one run and another.
bq.Likely out of scope, but would it be better to have a tuning metrics and
verified an increment there as opposed to just memsize changes?
Yeah that would be much better. I was just trying to get branch-1.2 stable so
that the rc can get moving. Filed HBASE-14743
