Sean Busbey updated HBASE-15111:
--------------------------------
      Resolution: Fixed
    Hadoop Flags: Incompatible change
Release Note: The `hbase version` command now outputs directly to stdout
rather than to a logger. This change allows the version information to be
output consistently regardless of logger configuration. Naturally, this also
means the command output ignores all logger configuration. Furthermore, the
move from loggers to direct output changes the output of the command to omit
metadata commonly included in logger ouput such as a timestamp, log level, and
logger name.
          Status: Resolved (was: Patch Available)

> Calling {{hbase version}} currently outputs the version info by writing to
> {{LOG.info}}. This means, if you change the default log level settings, you
> may get no output at all on the command line.
> Since {{VersionInfo.main()}} is being called, it should really just output
> straight to stdout.
