Anoop Sam John commented on HBASE-14490:
----------------------------------------

bq.For first one, we can use a fixed DirectBB in each Connection. They can reuse
to reading first part of protocol.Just ensure
MaxSize(head + params) less than our fixed size.
So how we know the max size of head+ params? In case the write reqs comes from
a Java client using a codec, the Cells are part of cell block. But when the
client do not support cell blocking (No codec and/or non java client) it will
be part of this PB message so in the 1st part. So sizing is not so easy. Ya
we can know whether the incoming req is from a cell block supported client or
not.

In 15525, we are changing the BBBPool so as to have fixed sized BB pool. So my
idea is that for incoming reqs also, we can read it into N BBs from the pool.

> Reusing buffer to read request. It's not necessary to every request free
> buffer. The idea of optimization is to reduce the times that allocate
> ByteBuffer.
> *Modification*
> 1. {{saslReadAndProcess}} ,{{processOneRpc}}, {{processUnwrappedData}},
> {{processConnectionHeader}} accept a ByteBuffer instead of byte[].They can
> move {{ByteBuffer.position}} correctly when we have read the data.
> 2. {{processUnwrappedData}} no longer use any extra memory.
> 3. Maintaining a buffer pool in each {{Connection}}.
